Sea-jacked LIBYAN VESSEL ARRIVES AT PIRATE LAIR

Reports from the ground indicate that the vessel MV RIM is a clandestine weapons transporter en route from Eritrea to Yemen, which had been intercepted with the knowledge and under the eyes of naval operations in the area. Independent verification of the cargo was, however, so far not possible.

After a brief intermezzo with Puntland forces east of LasKorey at the Somali coast of the Gulf of Aden, it sailed around the very tip of the Horn of Africa and after a short stopover in Ga'an the vessel has arrived now at the pirate lair of Garacad on the North-Eastern Indian Ocean coast of Somalia, where the DPRK-flagged but Libyan-owned coastal carrier is now held for ransom.

It is presumed that Romanian and Libyan sailors are forming the crew, which is held on board.

The Romanian Government and its Ministry of Foreign Affairs have so for not responded to requests for a crew-list nor followed up and commented on reports that Romanian nationals are among the crew.

Likewise no information has been received so far from Libya.
