Canadians are asking Conservative Industry Minister Tony Clement to stand up for Internet Freedom

(Version anglaise seulement)
Canadians are asking Conservative Industry Minister Tony Clement to give the gift of the Open Internet this holiday season. A title wave of citizens have already signed an online Christmas card through SaveOurNet.ca and social media services like Twitter.

Big Internet Service Providers (Bell, Rogers, Shaw, etc.) are trying to take control of how Canadians use the Internet and they already limit access to some services.

Both the New Democratic Party and the Liberals have official policies supporting open Internet access ("Net Neutrality"). However, the Conservative government has yet to act and therefore Internet "throttling" continues.

Tony Clement can save Canada's open Internet by asking the CRTC to conduct regular compliance audits of ISP traffic management practices.

SaveOurNet.ca's National Coordinator said today, "Canadians are asking Tony Clement to listen to civil society groups, leading businesses and citizens who have written letters, participated in rallies and attended Open Internet Town Hall events in several cities across the country. More than 13,000 Canadians have asked the CRTC to enforce Net Neutrality and Canadians are asking Tony Clement to join them."
