The European Union (EU) on Monday condemned the recent executions in form of stoning, carried out in Somalia by Al Shabab.

In a press statement, released in Brussels, the EU said that a woman accused of adultery and a man were stoned to death in Wajid and Merka, adding that under no circumstances should such accused persons be put to death.

The EU considers stoning as "inhuman and cruel", and calls on Somali authorities to abolish it and respect human rights as well as international humanitarian law.

Meanwhile, the EU foreign ministers' council decided last week to launch a programme under which at least 100 European military officers would train 2,000 Somali security forces, starting in January in Uganda, a move which has been seriously criticized by several human rights organizations in the region and internationally.

Since the European Union has launched its grand plan of a standing European force with the inception of a joint naval operation, the European military adventures run havoc with hardly any parliamentary oversight, no budgetary control and no real justification, several tax-payers unions in different European countries stated.
