Pour la première fois, le 18 juillet 2010, a eu lieu la Journée internationale Nelson Mandela. Cette journée, correspondant à la date de naissance de Mandela en 1918, vise à marquer les valeurs pour lesquelles il s’est battu et se bat toujours, principalement la liberté, la justice et la démocratie.
