British Car Carrier Seized Off Somalia

The UK-flagged, UK-owned Vehicle Carrier VC ASIAN GLORY has been captured this morning by presumed Somali pirates 500nm off the coast of Somalia while en route to the Gulf of Aden.

The ship owner DAYER MARITIME INC has the same ISM and ship manager as seajacked MT ST JAMES PARK, the London firm ZODIAC MARITIME AGENCIES LTD. The vessel has been insured with the London P&I club.

The exact crew list has not been provided yet, but it is believed that the vessel has an international crew of 24 to 26 sailors.
At present the vessel is commandeered towards the Somali coast with a French naval vessel nearby.
