“All spectators were fascinated by the style and the move of the Somali girl among the beauty contestants. She was dressed in the Somali traditional way which was superior to all the other costumes of the contesters. The Somali girl had yellow round beads which were wrapped from down her head to the hip. The Somalis who came to watch the colourful event were moved by the style of their fellow Somali girl who was leading from the top of the beauty contesters” said Hassan Hussein, speaking to Somaliweyn Website.

Eventually the contest was won by a Saudi girl, who has become Miss Arab of the year 2009.

This was the first Arab beauty contest for a Somali girl to partake, although there are several other Somali girls who have participated in world beauty contests, and have won.
