Amanda Lindhout and Nigel Brennan return home

Amanda Lindhout is back home in Alberta. That was the word Wednesday afternoon from a woman, speaking on behalf of the family of the Canadian journalist, recently freed after being held hostage for 15 months in Somalia.

In a statement, a family spokeswoman says Lindhout, 28, is back in Alberta with her family. Members of the family are still asking for privacy. "The family will provide further updates when they are ready," spokeswoman Sarah Geddes said.

Lindhout and Australian photographer Nigel Brennan, 38, were kidnapped by gunmen near Mogadishu in August of last year.
Brennan has also returned home to his native Australia.
