COMPASSION AMONG CAPTIVE CAPTAINS

What neither the Greek owner nor the Greek or Ukrainian governments managed to achieve for MV ARIANA and her crew - and which is a shameful chapter by itself - was arranged now between her captain and the captain of the newly captured MV KOTA WAJAR at the pirate lair of Hobyo in Central Somalia.

The crew of The Singaporean vessel has nationals from Singapore, India, Pakistan, China, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Myanmar.
While MV ARIANA had run out of fuel as reported since long and the crew was suffering for loosing all the amenities, which go along with running generators and engines on a ship, they also suffered because they had to bilge intruding water by themselves and without the help of pumps.

But now local observers reported that the captain of MV KOTA WAJAR - just sea-jacked in the Indian Ocean himself - had a heart with the long-time captives and facilitated the transfer of some fuel from his ship to the vessel with the 24 Ukrainians.

Though rumours have been spread along the coast since many weeks and months that MV Ariana would be freed soon, right now her crew doesn't believe anything any longer - though information that a ransom payment was expected again within the next days is circulated. The Ukrainian crew with two women, of which one still would require medical evacuation, does not want to hear any false promises any more.

But now at least and with the fuel provided for by the fellow seamen from Singapore, the captain of MV Ariana can run some of the engines - essential to perform the most critical duties and to keep the ship and her crew safe, while waiting until their over-lords in Athens, Kiev and London finally agree with the Somali buccaneers.

The governmental elections in Ukraine, they hope, will hopefully bring some people into power, who care for their people.
