The aid will be channelled through UN agencies, the Red Cross Movement and Finnish NGOs.

Ten million euros will be allocated to Africa – the Horn of Africa area, East Africa and southern Africa in particular. In the Horn of Africa area, Ethiopia and Kenya suffer from drought and Somalia also from a prolonged conflict. In southern Africa, the target of assistance is Zimbabwe.

One million euros is designated for emergency assistance in Afghanistan and EUR 400,000 for the drought in Syria. Assistance will also be provided for displaced persons in Pakistan, Colombia and Sri Lanka.

Before this decision was made, Finland had already granted EUR 55 million for humanitarian aid during this year.
