Ugandan State Security Abducts Somali Defence Minister

A Ugandan security detail, described first by eye-witnesses as armed kidnappers, nabbed a Somali state minister in Kampala, the Uganda government admitted.

While some sources believe that the Ugandan opposition, who wants that President Museveni calls back the Ugandan soldiers serving among the AMISOM troops in Mogadishu, are behind the disappearance, others mention the possible interference of the Somali minister in a lucrative weapons-support-deal between the US and Uganda to support the AMISOM troops, which would have angered Museveni.

It seems, however, by now to be clear that not non-state criminal kidnappers nor Muslim fundamentalists have snatched the minister, but those who have a "licence to kidnap and a licence to kill". The hand of a foreign secret service in the saga is not yet ruled out.
