Enrolment has declined every year since 2001/2002, as the larger cohorts of graduating students are replaced by the smaller cohorts of grade 1 students.

The total number of educators (full-time equivalent) increased for the fourth consecutive year.

In 2007/2008, there were just under 340,000 educators working in publicly funded elementary and secondary schools, up 1.4% from 2006/2007.

More than 327,000 students graduated from publicly funded secondary schools in 2007/2008, up 1.6% from 2006/2007.
