Suaad Hagi Mohamud suing Canadian Government for more than $ 2 million

Suaad Hagi Mohamud who was stranded for almost three months in Kenya over false claims that she was an impostor is now suing the Canadian governement for $2.5 million.

Lawyers representning Suaad Hagi Mohamud are also asking for a public inquiry and apology from the federal government.

"I don't care about the money," said Mohamud at a Toronto news conference Friday. "I'm going to court so this will never happen to another Canadian citizen."

Suaad Hagi Mohamud told a news conference in Toronto Friday morning that the federal government should have backed her up. Instead, she said, it let her down.
