Le Maroc est le pays arabe qui a conservé la plus forte communauté juive. Historiquement, les juifs sont arrivés dans ce pays il y a plus de 2000 ans. Ils avaient converti des tribus berbères à leur religion. Les Romains leur avaient accordé un statut de nation distincte. Mais l'adoption du christianisme comme religion de l'empire s'est accompagnée de leur persécution.
