“Canada condemns the North Korean regime’s reckless and needlessly provocative actions. North Korea's aggressive weapons programs represent a grave threat to international security, and are specifically troubling for stability in Northeast Asia. We hope all international actors will join in denouncing the North Korean regime’s nuclear test and its recent ballistic missile launch.

“The regime’s actions do little to advance the cause of North Korean security and do little to help the North Korean people. It is deeply troubling that a regime routinely unable to provide for its own people should invest so much of its effort and wealth into its weapons programs.

“Canada continues to work in concert with our allies to address these issues. We hope that the United Nations Security Council will recognize the gravity of these tests, and respond appropriately with a unified voice, Mr Harper said.”
