A un an des élections primaires de l’Etat du New Hampshire, qui marquent le début de la campagne électorale à proprement parler, et à 22 mois de l’élection, en novembre 2008, du successeur de George W. Bush, diverses personnalités ont annoncé qu’elles brigueront l’investiture de leur parti. Au total, une demi-douzaine de postulants se sont déjà déclarés dans le camp démocrate. Bill Richardson, gouverneur démocrate du Nouveau Mexique, et Hillary Clinton, sénatrice de l’Etat de New York et épouse de l’ancien président démocrate Bill Clinton, sont entrés dans la course ce week-end.
