Alger - Le gouvernement algérien a interdit de diffuser les images de la pendaison à la télévision nationale et de publier dans les journaux les photos de Saddam Hussein prises après la pendaison. Si les autorités algériennes ont réagi mollement à l'exécution du verdict, tous les quotidiens algériens étaient en deuil le lendemain de la pendaison. Les personnalités politiques et sociales commentant la nouvelle ont condamné le gouvernement irakien et ont même appelé à rompre les relations diplomatiques avec l'Irak.
