WHY ALL THE BASHING OF CATHOLICS. JUST RECENTLY A LOCAL PASTOR - NOT CATHOLIC CLERGY - WAS ACCUSED OF RAPE AND PEDOPHILIA OVER PAST SIX YEARS. THE NEWS WILL GO AWAY IN A FEW DAYS. (Pastor Faces Rape Charge, Wheeling News Register, July 18, 2008).

IF IT WAS AN INCIDENT INVOLVING CATHOLIC PRIEST, EVEN IF STOEY STORY WITH LIMITED PROBABILITY, EVEN IF IT HAPPENED 20 YEARS AGO, IT WOULD MAKE NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL NEWS, AND STAY IN THE NEWS.

PEDOPHILA IS A TERRIBLE CRIME; EVEN WHEN, AS IN MANY CASES IT IS HOMOSEXUAL CLERGY WITH CONSENTING MALE TEENAGERS; THERE IS NO EXCUSE.

CATHOLIC CLERGY ARE LESS INVOLVED IN CASES OF SEXUAL ABUSE THAN CLERGY OF OTHER DENOMINATIONS, AND FAR LESS THAN SECULAR TEACHERS.

WHY IS THE MEDIA SO FOCUSED ON CATHOLICS? HAVE THEY THOUGHT OF CHECKING LOCAL HIGH SCHOOLS?
